Violet Moon Organics
Where do our ingredients come from?
We grow our herbs in our own organic gardens or ethically wildcraft and infuse them fresh within hours of picking…
The plants used in our blends are wildcrafted or started from seed and are grown using organic and biodynamic techniques. We nourish the soil and replace essential nutrients to ensure sustainable growing. The plants are harvested at the peak of their potency and formulated fresh into our skin nourishing and therapeautic blends. We always create our products in small batches to ensure the highest quality.
We set the standard for organic herbal skin care
- We never use anything artificial. No petroleum products, no chemicals, no artificial fragrances.
- None or our ingredients are tested on animals. Our products are 100% cruelty free.
- We purchase our pure essential oils from only the most reputable suppliers. We have consulted with other aromatherpists and searched for years to find the oils that we use.
- Our herbal infused oils are made by cold infusion of fresh plants.
- Herbal oils are made with cold pressed, organic, extra virgin olive oil.
- We ethically wildcraft to ensure healthy stands of plants in the wild for generations to enjoy.
Our Story
We opened Violet Moon Organics in the spring of 2000 on a small rural farm that we were caretaking. However, after a couple of years we had to move back to the city. We ended up moving several times over the course of about 6 years and I also returned to school for a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology. Moving was hard on our gardens and graduate school cramped my herbalist style to the point where we had to pull down our online shop and only provide limited products locally for family and friends. Now that we’ve settled in the city of Columbia Missouri on our ‘little herban homestead’ we are transforming our neglected home and building up our gardens. Keep track of our progress on our blog.
When I started VMO Violet was 3 years old. She is now 13 years old and is my herbal apprentice! She is learning how to grow, harvest, wildcraft, and make herbal medicines. If you are local you might also see her making bike deliveries to shops downtown or she might even deliver your order right to your door!
